George was a fisherman, fish curer, and farmer residing in Bremen, Maine. A Republican in later years. He was selected Monhegan I. Assessor in 1840-44, '46, '48, '51-'53, & '55; School Agent in'47-48; and held assorted other posts. Bought half of his fathers' mansion, 'The Influence', for $10 in 1829; and the western half from John Baxter for $1700 in 1840. He is buried with his parents at the Monhegan Cemetery.
