My ancestors were instrumental in the settling of Matinicus Island, Maine, and the Rockland, Maine area. I am working on my genealogy and am interested in the cemeteries of Down East Maine. My husband and I also volunteer to take photos upon request. We are both dedicated to preserving the memorials that we photograph, making sure that they are shown in best light. We clear the area and make sure to photograph the entire stone and not just the dates. Many of these stones are falling into disrepair and we want a permanent record to honor the diseased. I am a volunteer for the Historical Society of Boothbay and am working to map and record the cemeteries which have been accepted by the town.
