Vernon C. Banks, age 86, of Banks Creek, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 14, 2012 at Madison Health and Rehabilitation Center. A native of Yancey County he was a son of the late Charlie and Agnes Blankenship Banks. He was also preceded in death by granddaughter, Bridget Banks; sister: Evlyn McPeters, Ina Angel and Madge Fagan; brothers: Will, Rolin, Holbert and Edwin Banks.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday, June 17th in the Chapel of Yancey Funeral Services. The Rev. Phillip Garland and Rev. Dale Banks will officiate. Burial will be in the Vernon Banks Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 until 4 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
