Leslie Finis Duke was born on March 14, 1893 in Dickson County, Tennessee, the son of Mordicai Johnson "Morty" Duke (1840–1937) and Plina Grove (Edwards) Duke (1850–1933).
He was married in 1921 to Frankie Leonora Eccles (1903–1987).
A carpenter living at 676 Westboro in Nashville, Leslie was 69 years old and married when he had a heart attack and died on December 7, 1962.
Survivors included his widow Frankie, sons Charles Thomas Duke of Peoria, Illinois and Marvin H Duke of Mobile, Alabama and Ivy Duke and Bill Duke of Nashville, brothers Polar Duke of Nashville, Caster Duke at Franklin, Tennessee and Will Hooper of Cross Plains, Tennessee and nine grandchildren.
Funeral Services were held on December 10th at the chapel of Pettus-Owen & Wood Funeral Home, and burial was in Woodlawn Memorial Park, Nashville.
