Jerry was predeceased by his parents and wife. He was the son of John and Louise Elswick Adkins. He married Elizabeth "Betty" "Coon" Parsons on 5 April, 1904.
He is survived by the following daughters: Mrs. Essie Fairchild and Mrs. Grace Elsie Booth; Mrs. Bess Daniel, Mrs. Goldia Swain, Mrs. Virginia Hoskins and Mrs. Elizabeth Dills and the granddaughter he raised, Mrs. Betty McKenzie plus 20 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.

Also surviving brothers and sisters are as follows: Sam Adkins; Iva Lee Hamilton; Bertha Hamilton and Nora Robinson.

The family moved to "Happy Hollow" on Hammond Creek in Johnson County, Kentucky ( from Floyd County, Kentucky) abt 1915-1916. He was a kind and gentle Christian man. He and three others built the Hammond Creek Church of Christ. He operated a grocery store at one time at the Forks of Hammond Creek. He was a carpenter and a farmer. The Adkins Family Cemetery is located on the family farm in "Happy Hollow" ( prior name Gunwale Branch of Hammond Creek).

Gravesite Details

Cemetery located on right hill, just above homeplace, and almost to timber line in Happy Hollow, Hammond Creek, Johnson County, Kentucky. Metal fence enclosed, has been well-maintained by current property owners.
