Ruth Walstra Dawson, age 73, a resident of West Chicago, IL, went to be with the Lord on Monday, May 16, 2016. She was born November 6, 1942 in Highland, Indiana to Garrett and Trena Leep. Ruth grew up in Highland and graduated from Illiana Christian High School. She married Calvin Walstra and they moved to Wheaton, Illinois where they raised their children. She had a career in Real Estate Sales and was an owner of a travel agency in Oakbrook Terrace. In recent years, she has worked as a receptionist at Community Bank Wheaton/Glen Ellyn. In 1992, she married Kenneth Dawson and they honeymooned in Antigua. They lived in Wheaton and West Chicago. They were active members of Faith Community Church in West Chicago. She enjoyed the family tradition of gathering for the Leep family hymn sing and traveling in their R.V. She enjoyed hiking with her favorite walking stick. Most of all she loved being with her family and enjoying her granddaughters. She is the beloved wife of Kenneth Dawson, loving mother of Brenda (Gregory) Passon and Gregory (Ruth) Walstra, delighted grandmother of Faith (Dustin) Scott, Katie Passon and Danica Walstra, dear sister of the late Earl (Lois) Leep, Lori (Bill) McQueary, the late Elaine (Gene) McGlone, Rowland (Tobbie) Leep, Patricia Leep, Garry (Michele) Leep and Robert Leep. Caring aunt to many nephews and nieces and daughter of the late Garrett and Trena Leep. A visitation will be held on Thurday, May 19, from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Wheaton, IL 60187. A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 20, at 10:00 a.m. at Faith Community Church, 910 Main St., West Chicago, IL 60185. Interment will follow at Wheaton Cemetery in Wheaton, Illinois.
