Elva D. Niemi
LEWISTON - Elva D. Niemi, 76, of 15 Towle St., died early Tuesday {17 May 1988} morning at the Central Maine Medical Center following a long illness.
She was born at Hebron, March 28, 1912, the daughter of Guy and Amy Ellingwood Farris. She received her education in Woodstock and Hebron schools. She married Eli Niemi on Oct. 12, 1930; he died July 31, 1984. Mrs. Niemi had worked at Hillcrest Poultry Co., in the housekeeping department at Central Maine Medical Center, and later at the Auburn Nursing Home.
Survivors include nine sons, Alden, Robert, Roger, Maynard, Carl, Horace and Carroll Niemi, all of Lewiston, and Raymond and Paul Niemi, both of Sumner; three daughters, Jeannette Bushey and Ruth Niemi, both of Lewiston, and Nancy Paquette of Hebron; a brother, Horace Farris of Brunswick; four sisters, Iva Bragg, Isabel Bedard, Jane Stevens and Josephine Trenoweth, all of Sumner, 21 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. A sister, Joyce Soucy, died in February, 1988.
