Cy Osceola Johnson, Sr., formerly of Morris, died Thursday, October 6, 2005 at his home in Tulsa. He was 79 years of age. He was born May 5, 1926 in Okmulgee to Harbor and Bettie (McHenry) Johnson. After high school, Cy spent 12 years serving his country, starting in the Army Air Corp, the U.S. Navy and then twice enlisted in the Marine Corp. He then worked for Herman Auto Parts in Okmulgee before opening Cy’s Auto Parts in Morris. After retirement, Cy moved to Las Vegas, where he had returned from earlier this year to live in Tulsa. Cy was Baptized at the Fife Memorial Church in Muskogee. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Rose (Fields) Johnson, and four children, Paul Eugene Johnson, Daniel Brown, Phyllis Brown and Beverly Grummitt. Survivors include his sons, Cy Johnson, Jr., of Tulsa, Solomon Johnson of Okmulgee, and Joseph and George Johnson, both of Morris, daughters, Cynthia Johnson of California, Wanda Mills and Geri Berryhill, both of Morris and Jessina Torress of Dallas, brothers, Hugh C. "Ed" Johnson of Norman, Keeper Johnson, Sr. of Morris and Bo Johnson of Okmulgee, sisters, Dorothy Ticeahkie, Charlene Navequaya, and Betty Neal, all of Lawton, De Sloan of Okmulgee, Pat Wahnee of Morris, Carolyn Niedo of Cyril, and Darlene Robertson of California, and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

The casket will be in state at Belvin Baptist Church starting at 9:00 A.M. and the funeral service will be held 2:00 P.M. Monday, October 10, 2005 with Reverends Bo Johnson and Dave Long, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in the Big Cussetah Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Tommy and Steven Wahnee, Rojer, Anthony, Jeffrey, and John Johnson, Keeper Johnson, Jr., David and Michael Sloan. Honorary casketbearers will be J.B. Bennett, Randell Drinnon, Butch LaSarge, J.R. Raley, and Rick Powell. Military graveside rites will be conducted by VFW Post 1189 of Okmulgee and VFW Post 539 of Henryetta.
