Burial will be in Highland Cemetery.

Charlene was born Sept. 6, 1943, to Harber and Betty McHenry Johnson in Okmulgee. She attended school at Fort Sill Indian School, Bacone College and Cameron University. She married Frank Nevaquaya on April 1, 1963, in Quanah Texas. They made their home in Lawton, where they raised their daughters and son. Charlene enjoyed playing bingo, going to the casino and recently became a Facebooker. She was a member of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation.
She is survived by daughters: Cheryl Nevaquaya and companion Paul Wheeler, of Morris; and Mary and Javier Galindo, of the home; one brother, Hugh Ed Johnson, Norman; two sisters: Dorothy Ticeahkie, Lawton; and Darlene Robertson, Oakland Calif.; and brother-in-law, Kenneth Nevaquaya and Inez, Wichita Kan.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Harber and Betty Johnson; husband, Frankie Nevaquaya; two sons: Ralph Christopher Nevaquaya, and Baby Boy Nevaquaya; sisters: Loretta (DeDe) Sloan, Betty (Base) Neal, Patsy Wahnee and Carol (Babe) Niedo; and brothers: Cy Johnson, Richard (Bo) Johnson and Keeper Johnson,
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
