He was born in south Lake City, October 15, 1922 to Raymond A. and Mary Hadden Bedenbaugh.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Florene Noegel Bedenbaugh, His son, Michael James "Mike", infants, Ronald Edwin and Randi Carrol, brothers: Robert, M.L. & R.H., and sisters: Alma, Vera, Susan, Elizabeth, Louise, & Tolula.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and then returned to Lake City where he worked at the VA hospital, operated service stations as well as working many years at OB Bradley Pure Oil. He also drove for Coca-Cola company and farmed. After thirty years of working as an independent poultry farmer for Gold Kist, Ed retired to spend time with family and friends. The years following his retirement he took great pride in cooking his amazing chicken pileau for the friends and family he loved. He was very loving and compassionate husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather as well as a loving brother and uncle. He loved his family and friends and was also loved by many.
He's survived by two daughters, Patti Thomas (Gary) and Jackie Harrison (Dan), and daughter-in-law Betty Bedenbaugh all of Lake City. One sister, Lena Burnsed of Lake City, two brothers Roy (Esta Mae) of Lake City, and Jerry (Toby) of Palatka, and a brother-in-law, Raymond Colley. Five grandchildren, Brad (Christina) Bedenbaugh, Brent (Kim) Bedenbaugh, Patrick Thomas, Ragan (Jeremy) Gravatt, Brooke (Chris) Knowles. Six great grandchildren, Ivorie Maltby, Madison Bedenbaugh, Savannah Bedenbaugh, Hayden Gravatt, Kye Knowles, Ansleigh Gravatt, and Tristan Bedenbaugh. He is also survived by his special friend Merle Koon, his beloved pet Skeeter and numerous nieces and nephews including a very special nephew, Bill Wheeler.
Funeral services for Mr. Bedenbaugh will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at Bethel United Methodist Church with Pastor Mike Wright, Rev. Deborah Wright McKown, and Elder Herman Griffin officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 5:00-7:00 P.M. Tuesday evening at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the Suwannee Valley (Haven Hospice), 6037 West US HWY 90, Lake City, FL 32055. Arrangements are under the direction of GATEWAY-FOREST LAWN FUNERAL HOME, 3596 S. HWY 441, Lake City.
