She was a native of Gaston County, born March 24, 1931, to the late Jesse Arthur and Arzene Kidd Norman.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Jerald Harold McCombs; and a son, Harold Dean McCombs; a brother, Lonnie Jackson Norman; and a sister, Juanita Sisk.
Doris was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and was a member of Walnut Grove Baptist Church. She had worked at Sherman Textiles and later Gaston County Schools before retiring.
A Celebration of Life service will be 1 p.m. Monday at Walnut Grove Baptist Church with the Revs. Fred High, Steve Weaver and Junior Morris officiating.
Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Belmont.
The family is being cared for by Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
