Thomas Sterczala, 71, died Tuesday at his home on 126 Lake Street after a long illness. A native of Poland, he had lived in Webster for 46 years. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Society of St. Joseph's Church.
He leaves his wife Mrs. Celia (Bury), five daughters, Mrs. Felix Jaskolski of Dorchester, Mrs. Alex Gracyalny , Mrs. Clarence Latour, Mrs. Charles Sabaj, and Mrs. Stanley Zachara of Webster; 4 sons, Joseph of Boston, Frank, Anthony, and Thomas of Webster; and a brother, John, of Webster.
Funeral services were conducted this forenoon with a high mass of requiem in St. Joseph's Church, Andrew Lekarczyk officiating.
Members of the Sacred Heart Society attended.
Bearers were Michael and Stanley Sterczala, Edward Wojciechowski, William Raszka, and Frank Nowacki.
Prayers at the grave in St. Joseph's cemetery were read by Rev. Peter Samorajski. Arrangements were in charge of Edward C. Sitkowski.

Tomasz was born in Posen, Prussia. He and his wife raised 11 children in a house on 126 Lake Street, Webster, MA.
His parents were Philip and Konstantia/Konstancya (Jankowska) Sterczala. He immigrated to the USA in 1896 with other family members.
He married Cecelia Bura on September 22, 1902.

Thomas Sterczala was listed as the "head" of the household. He lived with his brother Frank (July 1883) and his mother Konstancya (May 1845) and a boarder named Frank Pacholski (July 1884).
His occupation was listed as "Weaver, Cotton Mill." He could read and write, but could not speak English.
