Italian Nobility . The Prince of Salerno, he was born in Naples as the fifteenth child of Ferdinando I and Maria Karolina of Habsburg. In 1816 he married his niece Maria Klementine of Habsburg at Schönbrunn Palace, in Vienna. They had four children of which only a daughter, Maria Karoline, survived to adulthood. He also had a son from a short affair with the dancer Fanny Elßler.
