Bio

I started working on my genealogy in 1976. I was given what had been done so far on yellow mimeograph paper by my grandmother (Edna). I started my research by ordering birth, death, etc., records from county courthouses around the country. I would then sit in from of a reader and crank through to try and find that precious record that could verify a little piece of information.

In the mid to late 1990s when all of us were getting into this deeper using computers and the internet I started connecting with many “cousins” close and distant. Our research found that the last time all lines of the Rissler family had gotten together for a reunion was 1900, so we decided to have one in 2000. It was incredible. We all shared our data and I have continued my research. On my Great Grandfather William Barzella Rissler’s line I have it back to the first Rissler that came to the US. He was born in Westphalia, Germany about 1730. On his wife’s line, Sarah Emma Bowers I have it completed back to two births in 1499.

My grandparents on my father's side, George Wesley Rissler and Edna Baines Heckethorn (Rissler) moved to Wyoming around 1905. Sometime shortly after that they acquired a ranch about 25 miles SE of Casper, WY. It is unclear if they homesteaded or purchased or some combination thereof. My father, Edwin F. Rissler, purchased the ranch and over time added more acreage. I grew up on that ranch.

With a lot of pieces in between I moved to Salt Lake City, DFW, TX and now in New York 20 years as of October 2016.

I love genealogy, digitizing photos and restoring those photos for both my family and for others. I also enjoy semi-pro photography; portrait, landscape, wildlife and of course cemeteries. Feel free to download and use any photos of mine you wish. Sometime I watermark them and sometimes I don’t.

If you are a descendant or relative of any memorial I have entered, I would be happy to transfer maintenance to you. Just e-mail me your Find A Grave contributor number, and the names and numbers of memorials to be transferred to you.
