Peggy Davis Reaves, age 76, of Aberdeen passed away on Thursday, October 11, 2012 at her home.

She was born on October 4, 1936 in Aberdeen, NC, to the late Vernon L. Davis and Dora Hussey Davis. Peggy and her late husband James Reaves owned and operated Reaves Nursery and Rhododendron Farm off of Hwy. 5 and Sandpit Rd. in Aberdeen. She worked for many years at Proctor-Silex in Southern Pines and for J.P. Stevens in Aberdeen. Upon her retirement from J.P. Stevens, she went to work full-time at Reaves Nursery. Although Peggy and James had no children of their own, they considered Jos A. Bonitez Jaramillo, who managed the nursery, and his brother Jose Benitez Jaramillo their adopted sons. Peggy was also a member of the Page Memorial United Methodist Church in Aberdeen. In addition to her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, James D. Reaves, brothers, William T. Davis, Vernon L. Davis, Marlon T. Davis, Bobby J. Davis, sisters, Ruby Cothran, and Frances Davis.

She is survived by her brothers, Jimmy Davis and Richard Davis both of Aberdeen, NC, her sisters, Lucille Graham of Aberdeen, NC, and Doris Davison of Raleigh, NC and many nieces and nephews.

A Graveside service will be conducted on Monday, October 15, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Bethesda Cemetery in Aberdeen with Joel Kennedy and Carl Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Sunday at Boles Funeral Home in Pinehurst.
