1939 - 2012
Janet Gaileen Stewart Malmstrom passed away peacefully on October 12, 2012, surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born December 28, 1939 to Rosa Lee (Ostler) Boschee in Spanish Fork, UT. She married Edward Ray Malmstrom on June 15, 1958. Their marriage was solemnized December 9, 2006 in the Mount Timpanogos Temple.
Janet was raised in Spanish Fork and later moved to Orem. She worked at Chiam Cafe, where she made many life long friends. She was an avid doll collector. She spent many years acquiring many varieties of dolls, from collector's items to broken children's toys. She not only collected them but repaired them and made her own as well. One of Janet's best qualities was her compassionate nature. She touched many lives and collected friends just as she collected her dolls. Janet was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and loved her calling as part of the Humanitarian Committee where she put together quilts and donated them.
Janet always loved to bake and her culinary delights were always in demand for get-togethers and events, whether they be family or church related. She spent many hours sharing her baking talents and recipes with friends and family. Ray and Janet hand built a cabin in the Uinta Mountains where they loved to spend time building a lifetime of memories.
She is survived by her two sons, Edward (Monique), Thomas (Crystal), her brother Gary Nilsson, her sister Rosa Brown, 7 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, her mom, her brother Brent Gaisford, and two grandchildren Mitch and Nicole.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, October 18, 2012, at 1:00 pm in the Orem City Cemetery.
Friends and family may call Thursday from 11 am to 12:30 pm at the Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary, 495 South State St. in Orem.
