Henrietta (Wesselink) Post, 86, of Sioux Center died Thursday evening at the Sioux Center Community Hospital.

Funeral services were held Monday, September 30, at the Carmel Reformed Church of Carmel, IA, with Rev. Mark Heijerman officiating. Burial followed in Carmel Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the Post Family requests memorials be made to the New Horizon Fund, c/o Carmel Reformed Church. Arrangements entrusted to the Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center.

Henrietta (Wesselink) Post was born to Dick and Dena (Sanbulte) Wesselink on October 26, 1915. She was a graduate of Rock Valley Community High School. After completing her education Henrietta taught children at a country school two miles west of Carmel for four years.

On June 9, 1938 she married Walter Post at her grandparents home in Rock Valley. Following their marriage Henrietta and Walt began farming near Ireton until moving to their farm west of Sioux Center in 1954.

In 1973 the couple retired and settled in Sioux Center. Walt preceded her in death on December 13, 1996.

Henrietta lived in her home until entering the Sioux Center Nursing Facility in 1999. Throughout her adult life Henrietta was an active member of the Carmel Reformed Church. She held various offices in RCWM and was dedicated Sunday school teacher for many years.

She also served as president of Hope Haven Auxiliary and held offices in the West Sioux Classis RCWM. Henrietta's service to Christ and leading others to Him were of utmost importance to her.

Henrietta loved it when her house was filled with family and friends. For many years she baked wedding cakes for couples, and spent her spare time gardening and doing handwork.

Left to cherish her memory are her four children and their spouses: Deanne & Richard Van Zee of Rock Valley; Darwin & Lorraine (Fedders) Post, Warren & Fonda (Broek) Post and Faith & Dick Franken all of Sioux Center along with 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; her brother and sister-in-law, John and Jeanette Wesselink of Rock Valley and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Henrietta was preceded in death by her parents; two great-randchildren: Amanda Dolieslager and Sawyer Van Zee and sister-in-law and her husband, Gert and Sam Westra.
