John D. Wesselink, 89, of Rock Valley died Tuesday, September 26, at Valley Manor in Rock Valley.
Memorial services were at 2 p.m. Friday at First Reformed Church in Rock Valley, with the Rev. Mike Van Hamersveld officiating. Burial was at Carmel Cemetery.
Wesselink was born March 20, 1917, near Carmel, the son of Dick and Dena (Sandbulte) Wesselink.
He married Jeanette DeBoer on February 1, 1940, at the De Boer homestead north of Carmel. Together they farmed near Sioux Center until moving to Rock Valley in 1954, where he purchased the Valley Lockers.
He owned and operated the locker until his etirement in 1976.
The couple moved to Valley Manor on April 19, 2004.
Survivors include his wife, Jeanette; a son, David (Doris) Wesselink of Rock Valley; two daughters, Audrey (Bill) Vermilyea of Bloomington, Minnesota, and Karen (Dennis) Vander Sluis of Le Mars; a daughter-in-law, Mary (Terry) Dippold of Urbandale; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by a son, Richard Wesselink; a stillborn daughter, Mary Ann; and a sister, Henrietta Post.
