Mr. Pete Poston, age 76, passed away Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at his home following an illness. Born on October 13, 1935 in Galivants Ferry, SC he was the son of Mr. Arris Poston and Mrs. Jolie Ard Poston.

Mr. Poston served his country with courage and honor as a Communications Specialist with the United States Coast Guard from 1993-2000, after which he worked in the textile industry and the N.C. Department of Corrections. He served his community as a longtime active member of the Mason's and the Omar Shrine where he served as a secretary for the Bobcat's in 1995 and 1996. Mr. Poston was a member of Community Baptist Church in Yanceyville, NC and attended Lawndale Baptist Church in Loris, SC.

Survivors include his sons, Donnie Poston and wife, Christy of Switzerland, FL and Pete Poston, Jr. of Florence, SC; daughter, Terry Whitaker and husband, Lee of Jacksonville, FL; brother, Tom Poston and wife, Velda of Loris, SC; sisters, Jeannie Owens of Georgetown, SC, Pat Carringer of Fayettville, NC, Janice Sleap and husband, Dave of Jacksonville, FL and Faye McIntosh and husband, Danny of York, SC; one stepson, James Branson and wife, June of Yanceyville, NC; two stepdaughters, Betty Reitzel of North Myrtle Beach, SC and Jackie Hodge of Burlington, NC and six loving granddaughters and three loving grandsons.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Poston was predeceased by one sister, Judy Harter and a stepdaughter, Ann Fogleman.
