Vern Gallaway

Vern LaRoy Gallaway, 66, of Cass City, died Monday, Feb. 5 [1990], at Hills and Dales General Hospital in Cass City.

He was born Oct. 24, 1923, in Tuscola County, the son of Floyd and Myrtle (Vance) Gallaway.

Gallaway married Rosemary Bailey June 14, 1952, in Decker. The couple made their home in Cass City.

A member of the Trinity United Methodist Church of Cass City, he had been employed by the Caro Regional Center and retired in 1984. He was co-owner of the Cass City Lanes and traveled with the 600 Club. Gallaway was also a licensed residential builder in Cass City for many years.

He served in the Pacific Theatre and Japan with the U.S. Army during World War II.

He is survived by his wife, Rosemary; 2 daughters, Mrs. Neil (Luann) Maher of Port Sanilac and Mrs. Jim (Crystal) Adkins of Jacksonville, Fla.; 4 grandchildren, Cody and Dustin Maher and Chelsea and Trip Adkins, and one brother, George Gallaway of Cass City. One infant sister preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 1 p.m. at Little's Funeral Home, Cass City, with the Rev. Rick Sheppard, pastor of the Trinity United Methodist Church, officiating.

Burial will be in the Elkland Township Cemetery, Cass City.
