Ruth Page Anderson, 101, widow of Thurman W. Anderson, Sr., died July 4, 2012 at Kingston Nursing Center.

Mrs. Anderson was born in Galivants Ferry on May 29, 1911. She was a daughter of the late Eddie Walker and Lilly Sarvis Page. The Page family moved to Aynor in 1916, where Mrs. Anderson attended Zion Elementary and Aynor Elementary Schools, and graduated from Aynor High School. Mrs. Anderson attended Columbia College and was in the class of 1933. The next year she married Thurman Anderson, former Superintendent of Horry County Schools. They spent most of their married life in Conway and celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary prior to his death in 1996. She taught school for 28 years, primarily at Horry Elementary and Homewood Elementary Schools and retired in 1974. The Andersons joined First United Methodist Church of Conway one week after their marriage. Mrs. Anderson taught Sunday School, served as director of the Youth Intermediate Department, chaired the worship committee and was active in the United Methodist Women as a member of the Sadie Walsh Circle. She was also a member of the Emma Thompson Sunday School Class. In the late 70's, she and her husband were named "Mr. and Mrs. Methodist." Mrs. Anderson was active in the Conway Garden Club and the Conway Lioness Club. She was a member of Conway/Horry County Chapters of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the United Daughters of the Confederacy. Mrs. Anderson was preceded in death by her daughter, Margaret Anderson Ellison.

Surviving are two sons, Thurman W. Anderson, Jr. (Joanne) of Spartanburg, SC and Richard P. Anderson (Nancy) of Conway, SC; seven grandchildren, Cheri (Stacey) Beeler and Scott (Tiffany) Anderson both of Spartanburg, SC, Keith (Tina) Anderson and Brian Anderson both of Conway, Craig Anderson of Sumter, SC, Josh (Shannon) Ellison of Surfside Beach, SC, and Kirk (Morgan) Ellison of Pelham, AL; and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Kyle Randle and Rev. Carl Harris officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the church from 10-11 AM Saturday.
