Max was born to Israel Seckel and Bertha Wilhelm in Krotoschin, Prussia/Germany. He lived in Boston, served in the Indian Wars, was injured during the war and honorably discharged, moved to Philadelphia where he married Mary Finnegan, and later traveled more and married a second time to Lucie Berthe.
