Word was received here last week of the death of Peter Conrad at the Soldiers' Home in Leavenworth February 22. He had been staying with his stepdaughter, Mrs. Bessie Ecklund Hughes, and when she left to go to Colorado she had him sent to the Soldiers' Home, as he was getting quite feeble and helpless. On her return she found he had died and had been buried there. He had requested that his body be sent back here for burial and perhaps his request may be carried out later and be brought to the place which he had always thought of as his home.

================

According to the National Archives, Peter's body was in fact sent home to Wilson, and re-interred in March of 1919.
