Lillian ‘Lily' Johnson

Lillian "Lily" Johnson, age 56 of Fairborn, passed away Monday May 17, 2010 at Hospice of Dayton.

She was born November 27, 1953 in Xenia, the daughter of Sherwood and Ireda (Massengale) Byrd. Lily graduated from Fairborn High School Greene Joint Vocational Center with a license in cosmetology and Clark State Technical Center with a degree in nursing. Her passion was spending time with family and friends during holidays and keeping family traditions alive with memories and photos. Lily's interests included cross-stitch, crocheting, and genealogy.

She spent years researching the family history and loved talking about it with her family and compiled volumes of family history and photographs.

Her most recent interests were journaling and keeping friends updated on Facebook during her battle with cancer.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Levi and Pauline Massengale; paternal grandparents, Berry and Linda Byrd; and a nephew, Nathan L. Howard.

She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Wayne Allen Johnson; her parents of Fairborn; two children, Brian Allen Johnson and wife Christina of Riverside, Amanda Gayle Keeton and husband James of Fairborn; three grandchildren, Zoe, Gabriel, and Michael; two brothers, Randy Byrd and wife Reta of Fairborn, Jeff Byrd and wife Karen of Fairborn; two sisters, Lynetta Howard and husband Dwight of New Carlisle, Nina Beverly and husband Jim of Fairborn; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and special aunts and uncles in Ohio and Tennessee.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday May 22, 2010 at noon in the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Road, Fairborn. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the time of service.

Burial will follow in the Byron Cemetery. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton in her memory.
