FLORENCE - Larry (Lawrence) Lindsey, 63, died March 17, 2011.
Funeral services were held March 22 at The Church in Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ of the Apostolic Faith, Inc. Burial was held at Chesterfield Community Cemetery, in Chesterfield.
Lindsey, born June 9, 1947, was a son of Neomia Little Lindsey and the late Rufus Lindsey, of Chesterfield.
Lindsey was educated in the Chesterfield County public school system. On his life-route from South Carolina to New Jersey he worked as a stocker at B.C. Moore's, in Chesterfield, a laborer at Delta Mills, in Wallace, S.C., a valet in Newark, N.J., and a meter reader for Elizabeth, N.J.
Larry (Lawrence) was also an entrepreneur and found much pleasure in "TINKERING". He also loved spending time with his four-legged friends, Buddy and Prince.
He was preceded in death by siblings Pearlie Mae Lindsey, Lenore Hannah and Charles Lindsey.
Larry is survived by his wife of 33 years Vivian Lindsey; mother Neomia Lindsey, of Chesterfield, children Lawrence Lindsey, of Bloomfield, N.J., Jermaine Lindsey, of Neptune, N.J.; Lakenna Young-Freeman (Thomas), of Charlotte, Steven Lindsey, of Cleveland, Ohio, Michael Calhoun, of Florence, and Helena Nicole Calhoun, of Charlotte; sisters Patsy Cobb, Gloria (Gary) Johnson and Martha Riddick, of Chesterfield, Gertrude (John) Covington, of Clio, S.C., and Vanessa Marsh and Denise (David) Pegues, of Chesterfield; brothers Johnny Lindsey and Tallye Lindsey, of Charlotte, Michael (Shawnte) Lindsey, of Chesterfield; nine grandchildren; great aunts Blanch Fleming, of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Martha Deviant, of Rahway, N.J.; mother-in-law Geneva Burke, of Hilton Head, S.C.; sisters-in-law Diana (Michael) Williams, of Savannah, Ga., Charlesetta (Calvin) Edmunds, of Hilton Head, Shirley Scott, of Newport News, Va., Margaret Calhoun, of Hampton, Va.; brothers-in-law Larry Calhoun, of Columbia, and Elijah F. Calhoun, of Newport News, Va.; good friends Denis Dean, of Wilson, N.C., Ray Jones and Bob Ellis, of Plainfield, N.J., and Marvin Patton, of East Orange, N.J.; and a host of other relatives and friends.
