Chester "Lefty" Pryor

Chester "Lefty" Pryor Sr., 88, of 2222 N. Rouse, died at 3:15 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 18, 1993 at Mt. Carmel Medical Center. He had been in ill health and had resided in Sunset Manor in Frontenac since June and entered the hospital on Dec. 13. Mr. Pryor was born Oct 14, 1905 in Pittsburg, the son of James A. and Mable May Murray Pryor. He had lived in Pittsburg all of his life. He married Gladys Marie Brown on May 25, 1929, in Lamar, Mo. She preceded him in death on July 2, 1990, in Pittsburg. He worked for the Kansas City Southern Railroad for eight years and then was a self-employed trash hauler from 1946 until 1985 when he retired. He was a former member of the Eagle Club. Survivors include three sons, Chester Pryor, Jr. of 2600 N. Rouse, Terry Pryor of Arcadia and Michael Pryor of 1030 E. 515th Ave.; three daughters, Shirley Munsell of 903 E. 10th, Connie Scott of 822 E. 23rd and Janie Orender of 118 N. Rouse; one brother, Tommy Pryor of Wichita, Ks; three sisters, Nina Parker of 214 N. Highland, Mary Horton of 509 E. Park and Bertha Thomas of Independence, Mo.; 22 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Flater, and two brothers, James "Buster" Pryor and John Pryor, and two sisters, Dolly Mae Pryor, and Lillie Miller. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Bath-Naylor Funeral Home, 522 S. Broadway, with the Rev. Daryl Gaddy of Lighthouse Tabernacle officiating. Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The family will receive friends at the Orender home at 118 N. Rouse or the Michael Pryor Home at 1030 E. 515th Ave. Friends may call at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home after 10 a.m. Wednesday.
