Leon R. "Rocky" Nichols, 72, died unexpectedly on July 24, 2008, at his Lynn MA home. He was born July 31, 1935, in Amesbury MA, son of the late William and Eliza (Rock) Nichols. Rocky grew up in Amesbury and was a graduate of Amesbury High School.
After high school, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. He then moved to Epping NH and met Doris June Mallouf. They married and moved to Brookline MA to start and raise their family. They resided in Brookline for about 30 years.
Rocky spent his entire professional career in the automobile business. For seven years, he owned and operated the Circle Auto Craft in Revere MA, and his last employment was as an auto appraiser for John Needham Appraisals.
Mr. Nichols resided the past five years in Lynn. In his spare time, Rocky enjoyed playing golf and collecting Norman Rockwell memorabilia.
He was predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Doris Nichols, who died February 9, 2004.
He leaves his son Michael Anthony Nichols of Lynn MA; daughters Sabrina Lisa Nichols-Joyce of Salem MA and Tanya Ann Nichols of Lynn MA; grandson Jonathan Gabriel Nichols-Joyce of Salem MA; sister Ann Haff of Hollywood FL; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, July 28, 2008, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Brewitt Funeral Home, 9 Pleasant Street, Epping. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 29, at 11 a.m., at St. Joseph Church in Epping. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Epping.
