Solemn requiem high mass for John Pletchette, 77, Dedham businessman, will be read at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29, at St. Joseph Church, Dedham. His nephew, the Rt. Rev. Msgr. Frank H. Greteman will be celebrant of the mass. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.

The body is resting at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll, where the rosary will be recited at 3 p.m. Monday; at 7:30 p.m. Monday led by the Rev. Henry Meyer; and at 8:30 p.m. Monday by members of Court Sacred Heart No. 454, C.D. of A., Templeton.

Mr. Pletchette died at 5:20 a.m. SAturday, Nov. 26, at St. Anthony Hospital, where he had been a patient since Oct. 14. He had been in failing health for the past five years.

A son of George and Margaret Pletchette, he was born at Willey Nov. 15, 1883. As a young man he worked at the Greteman Store in Willey. On Aug. 4, 1914, he was married to Margaret Meissner at St. Mary Church, Willey, by the Rev. Fr. Cortes. After their marriage he continued to work at the Greteman STore, then going to Dubuque where he worked for a short time in a button factory. He operated a general store in Dubuque before coming back to Carroll County and working again in the Greteman Store at Willey. Later, they moved to Viola Center, where Mr. Pletchette operated his own business.

In 1917, they moved to Dedham; and in partnership with Louis Zitzlsperger, he operated what was called "The Big Corner Store of Dedham." In 1925 the business was moved to the location of the present store, and in 1932 the partnership was dissolved. Mr. Pletchette operated the store until 1954, when he retired and sold his interest to his son, Donald, who is now operator of the Pletchette Briardale Store.

Mr. Pletchette was a member of St. Joseph Church, Dedham; a former town councilman and past president of the Dedham Commerical Club.

Surviving are his wife, Margaret, and son, Donald, both of Dedham; five grandchildren; two brothers, Bernard and Joseph Pletchette, Willey; and one sister, Mrs. Ed Klocke, Dedham. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mrs. William Klocke and Mrs. Anton Engel, and one brother, George Pletchette.
