Swedish Diplomat, Politician, Member of the cabinet, Author. One of the most noted persons in Swedish public debate. A distinguished member of the Social Democrat Party, highly engaged in promoting social welfare. But also controversial. In 1934 she and her husband Gunnar Myrdal published the book Crisis in the Population Question in which they advocated solutions that later led to sterilization of gypsies and vagrants - people who were considered "inferior" at the time. She also fought for disarmament and received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1982.
