Edith George, born at Arcadia, July 28 1866 died January 10 at her home in Vanceburg, town of Sheridan, at the age of 79 years.
Her parents were pioneers of northern Dunn county, coming here when the deceased was but three months of age. Here she spent her girlhood except when she was away at school. For several years she was a teacher in the rural schools of Dunn and Barron counties.
In 1888 she was married to L. G. Richards and to this union was born three children, Roy, Poplar, Mont.; Clare, Minneapolis; and Etta, Mrs. J. M. Anderson, Vanceburg. Much of her married life was spent in North and South Dakota. She was a member of the First Presbyterian church of Britton, S. D., the Menomonie Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, the Prairie Farm Camp of Royal Neighbors of America and the American Legion Auxilary of Elmer Holum Unit.
She is survived by her three children, six grandchildren and her sister, Mrs. Chauncey Goff, Menomonie. Her husband preceded her in death in 1934.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Jan. 15, 1:45 p.m. at the home and 2 p.m. at the Vanceburg church with interment in the Vanceburg cemetery, Rev. Brown, Boyceville officiating.
