Rosenberg Herald, February 26, 1937:

Many hearts throughout the Needville community were saddened when they heard that Mrs. Rozina Merecka had died. Mrs. Merecka suffered with heart trouble for many years but her end came unexpectedly, a heart stroke setting an end to her earthly life on February 17th at 10:45 p.m.

Mrs. Merecka was born April 3, 1866 in Czechoslovakia. When she was 14 years old, she came together with her parents to Texas. On November 27, 1887, she married Mr. Martin Merecka at Columbus, Texas. For the first 10 years of their married life, they lived at Ellinger, Texas, and then at Gonzales, Moulton, and Shiner. In 1920, they came to Fort Bend and lived in the Needville community where she died, reaching an age of 70 years, 10 months, and 14 days.

Their union was blessed with 10 children, 6 daughters, and 4 sons. Two daughters and two sons preceded the mother in death. She leaves her husband, Martin Merecka; 4 daughters, Mrs. Hermina Pesak, Mrs. Albina Pesak, Ludmimla and Marie Merecka; 2 sons, Joseph and Charles; 19 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; 3 sons-in-law; 1 daughter-in-law; 1 brother, John Mikolas; and 1 sister, Mrs. Anna Mikeska. She was a faithful child of God, true wife, loving mother, and good friend.

The burial took place Friday, February 19, at the Needville Public Cemetery, Rev. J.R. Vilt conducting the serivces.
