N. R. Raulerson, Sr. was the founder of one of okeechobee county's oldest pioneer families. He moved his family to FL.in 1829. He moved to Hillsborough, Cnty. in 1844 & by 1850 was living on the S.E. shore of Lk. Hancock in present-day Polk Cnty.He was a large scale Cattleman. Married to: Tempie Whidden.Served as a private in the 2nd Seminole War in 1837 under Capt. Robt. Brown & later under Capt. Sanderling.Wounded in the right shoulder in a battle with the Indians at Okeefenokee swamp in 1838 or'39. N.R. & Tempie had 13 children.
