CASSELL, Estelle M. - Of Burton, age 78, passed away Sunday, February 29, 2004 at the residence. A Funeral Service will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 3, 2004 at Farnumwood Presbyterian Church, 2350 E. Hemphill Rd., Rev. Tim Sutton officiating. Burial will be in Crestwood Cemetery. Mrs. Cassell will lie in state at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 E. Davison Rd., Davison, where the family will receive visitors 2-9 p.m. Tuesday. On Wednesday, the family will receive visitors at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. A Scripture Service will be held 7 p.m. Tuesday. Memorial Contributions may be made to Genesys Hospice.
Estelle was born April 23, 1925 in Bangor, ME, daughter of the late George and Blanche (Clark) Witherly. She married Wilbur Cassell on July 27, 1944 and he preceded her in death on July 5, 1999. She attended Farnumwood Presbyterian Church. She will be missed for her extremely quirky humor and a gift to listen and empathize with whoever needed it. She is survived by: daughters, Ruth (Kenneth) Langdon, Nancy (Gene) Workman; 10 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; brother, LeRoy (Eleanor) Witherly; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Shirley and Louie, Louise and Paul, Doris, Barb.
She was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, Paul Witherly, Anne Dinsmore, Helen Barrett, Elwyn Witherly, Lloyd Witherly. The family wishes to give special thanks to Dr. Jota for the care and support that he gave to Estelle and her family.
