William "Bill" Leehart, 67, passed away on Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at Mercy Hospice in Johnston. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m., Sunday, February 5, 2012 at Iles Funeral Homes - Westover Chapel and a graveside service will be held at 1 p.m., Monday at Glendale Cemetery.

Bill was born on October 12, 1944 in Osceola, Iowa, the son of Waldron and Dorothy Leehart. He moved to Des Moines as a young man and had lived in the same home for 34 years. Bill attended AIB College and was involved with the Jaycees as a young man. Bill held various jobs throughout the years, including working for Boesen the Florist as a floral delivery person, a job which he loved and enjoyed. Bill also loved spending time with his grandchildren, the New York Yankees and gardening. The company of his dog, Sparky and his cats, Baby and Benji provided him much comfort.

Bill is survived by his daughter, Kim (Steve) Dejoode of Des Moines; grandchildren, Kelly, Chris, Stevie, Ethan, Katelynn and William Dejoode and Jordan Foster, whom Bill thought of as a grandson.

Memorials may be made to his family to be used towards a memorial in Bill's name.
