Mrs. Etta North Edwards, widow of the late Frank Edwards of Oskaloosa, passed away at her home on Monday, March 28, 1960, at the age of 84.
Mrs. Edwards was born on June 6, 1875, in Olive Bridge, New York. She moved to the state of Kansas with her parents when she was eight years old settling near Springdale in Leavenworth County. Two years later the family moved to White City, Kansas, in Morris County.
She married Frank Edwards on Christmas Day, December 25, 1894. The young couple moved to Leavenworth County living near Jarbalo for a short while. They moved from Jarbalo to Jefferson County where they took a farm near Oskaloosa. Mrs. Edwards lived 49 years on that farm.
To the union of Frank and Etta Edwards seven children were born, four daughters and three sons. Two children, John and Pearl, preceded her in death. Three daughters and two sons survive her. They are: Mrs. Annabel Sanders Nichols of Oskaloosa; Mrs. Dora L. Hurley of Oskaloosa; Mrs. Esther Keesling of Meriden; Craig Edwards of Ozawkie; and Godfrey Edwards living on the home farm near Oskaloosa. Mrs. Edwards is survived by 15 grandchildren and 36 great grandchildren and many nephews and nieces.
Mrs. Edwards was a charter member of the Grayson Happy Hour Club of Oskaloosa and always took an active part until illness made it impossible for her to leave her home.
