Marian Whiteaker, 90, died Saturday, Dec. 17, 2005, at an Albany, Mo., nursing home. She was born Dec. 7, 1915 in Beaconsfield, Iowa, to Frank and Amy (Northey) Whiteaker.
She attended schools in Beaconsfield and Des Moines in Iowa and graduated from Albany (Mo.) High School in 1933. After graduating from the Kansas City business College in Kansas City, Mo., she worked for the Lathrup Law Firm until 1946 when she transferred to the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway Co. She worked as a legal secretary for the railroad for 35 years until her retirement in January 1981. She remained in Kansas City until recently. She enjoyed travel and had made trips all over the United States and the world. She was a member of the Central Methodist Church of Kansas City, Beta Sigma Phi, an international sorority, and was active in the National Association of Railway Business Women.
She was proceded in death by two brothers, John N. Whiteaker and George Norris Whiteaker.
Survivors include five nephews, Weldon Whiteaker, Steven Whiteaker, Richard Whiteaker, Mark Whiteaker and Philip Whiteaker, and a sister-in-law, Dortha Whiteaker of Albany.
