Jackson - Gilbert Headrick, a lifelong resident of Jackson, died at 11 Friday morning at Southeast Missouri Hospital. He was 72 years old.

Mr. Headrick was born Sept. 22, 1905; in Jackson, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Alexander Headrick. On Aug. 17, 1925, he married Miss Marie Miller.

For 11 years, he was an employee of International Shoe Co. in Jackson. He then worked for nine years as a policeman for the City of Jackson. Following that he was deputy sheriff for a year and a half in Cape County, followed by 12 years working for the State of Missouri in the Agricultural Weights and Measures Division. He retired in 1969.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Jackson.

Surviving are his wife, son Ralph Headrick, Jackson; daughter, Mrs. Virginia Moody, Lincoln, Neb.; a grandson and two great grandsons.

Three brothers and a sister preceded him in death.

Service will be held at 2 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson.

The Rev. Anthony Jordan, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Jackson, will officiate. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery. Pallbearers are Joe Wills, Jack Hoffmeister, Henry Puls, Gus Bollinger, Harold Wills and Dean Welker.
