Anna Selby Henshaw was born in Rown township, Athens county Ohio, December 4, 1836. She died at her home in Golden,Illinois, July 12 1920, at the age of 83 years, 7 months, and 8 days. Mrs. Henshaw was the daughter of Margurette and Wilson Shelby. Her early life was spent on the farm the place of her birth. She received her education at the District school and taught her first school at the age of 15 years. On July 16, 1854, she was married to Jefferson Henshaw. The following year they emigrated to Iowa, where they reside for a few years, moving from there to Camp Point. After a number of years they moved to Kansas and later to Golden, Ill., where the husband departed this life June 16, 1909 at the age 84 years and 10 months. To this union were born six children whom she leaves to mourn her loss; two sons, Frank A. Henshaw, of Council Bluffs, Iowa, and Edward J. Henshaw, of Denver, Colorado; four daughters, Margaret M. McClintock. of Golden; Elizabeth Potter of Decatur, Ill.; Ida F. Kern, of Shelbina, Mo.; and Fannie A. Allshouse of Fairbury, Nebr. She also leaves eleven grandchildren and fifteen great grand children, and one brother, H.E. Selby. of Golden, Ill. The Camp Point Journal, 5 July 1920, Pg.1
