"Uncle Jefferson" Henshaw died at his home in Golden Wednesday night at 8 o'clock of old age and its accompanying debilities. He was born in Athens county, Ohio, Aug. 16, 1824. The widow and six children survive. the children are: Frank of Council Bluffs, Ia.; Mrs. John McClintock, of Golden; Elizabeth Potter, of Galesburg; Tela Hern, of Shelbina, Mo.,; Fanny Allshouse, of Fairburg, and Edward of Denver. He was a veteran of the Mexican war, enlisting June 1, 1846, and was discharged June 22, 1847. He belonged to company 2, Ohio infantry. He moved from Ohio to Illinois in 1855 and then to Iowa where he lived about four years. Then he came back to Adams county, and in a short time he moved to Kansas where he lived eight years. Then he moved to Missouri where he lived five or six years, then came back to Illinois to his present residences where he died. Excerpts from The Quincy Daily Journal, June 18, 1909, Page: 3
