Formerly of Calumet City, IL. Passed away peacefully on October 17, 2011. Dorothy was the beloved daughter of the late Nicholas Varichak and the late Anica (Varichak) Alecksich. She is survived by brother Milan (Helen), brother George (Violet) and sister in law Sophie (late Peter) Varichak. Dorothy was the sister of the late Mildred (late Eli) Uzelac, late brother Eli (late Mary Jane) Varichak, Late sister Violet (late Henry) Meyert, and the late Peter (Sophie) Varichak. She was the proud aunt of Paul (Chris) Varichak, Susan (Jeff) Morris, Mark (Claudia) Varichak, Nancy (Brian) Maxwell, and Michael (Debbie) Varichak. Dorothy was also the fond great aunt to many nieces and nephews and many kumovi. A special thanks to her care giver Rosalia Wojciuk and our dear friend John Murphy, and Palos Community Hospice. She was a retired employee of Illinois Central RR. She was a member of the Church Circle of Serbian Sisters, also the Serbian Seniors Club, Karageorgevich Lodge #25, and a friend of the Sloboda Serbian Singing Society. Dorothy will always be remembered for her caring and kind hearted ways, and will be missed by all who knew her. Funeral Services Friday, October 21, 2011 at St. Archangel Michael Serbian Orthodox Church, Lansing, IL. Dorothy will lie in state at church from 10:00AM until time of service at 11:00AM. Very Rev. Dr. Milos Vesin officiating. Interment Oak Hill Cemetery; Hammond, IN. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the church or charity of your choice would be appreciated.
