WEAVERVILLE – Gus B. Rice, age 87, of Barnardsville Hwy., died Wednesday, September 28, 2011.
Mr. Rice was born August 19, 1924, in Madison County and was a resident of Buncombe County since 1947. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the US Navy. He was a member of Morgan Hill Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Morgan Rice who died in 2006.
Surviving are his daughter, Linda Cole of Weaverville; son, Bill Rice of Asheville; and sister, Dorothy Arrowood of Weaverville.
His memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, October 2, 2011, at Morgan Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Kevin Garner officiating.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:15 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
