Mrs. Elbert was born Sept. 30, 1909 in Louisville, KY, and died Jan. 29 in Coos Bay. She had lived in the Bay Area since 1960, and had been active in various musical groups before and after her retirement in 1970. She had worked for Hallmark Fisheries and Peterson Sea Foods in Charleston. She was a member of the Bay Area Senior Citizens, the Old Time Fiddlers, the Sew & Sew sewing group in Empire, the Old Time Music Makers, and had spent three years with the Senior Follies. She is survived by her sons, Tony, Gene, Louis and Donald Elbert, all of Coos Bay, and John Elbert of Charleston; daughters, Lillie Pierce of Eufaula, OK, Kate Ash of Toledo, and Mary Reed of Coos Bay; sisters Ethel Kinney of Oklahoma, Carrie Pigsley of South Dakota, and Lillie Stepp of Creswell; brother, Bud Stepp of Oklahoma; 32 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Her husband, Frank Elbert, preceded her in death in 1955 and her son, Bob Elbert, died in 1980.
