He was born in Czechoslovakia. He came to the United States when he was 3 years old and lived in Louisiana. He moved to Illinois and spent most of his childhood there. He came to Saginaw as a teenage and lived there until 1929 when he moved to Midland. Mr. Kartz married the former Helen F. Jardno, June 30, 1928, in St. Brigid's Church. He had worked at Dow Chemical Co. for 35 years as a welder, retiring in 1963. He had attended St. Brigid's Church.
He leaves his wife; sons, Frank J. Kartz of Saginaw and William L. Kartz and Richard J. Kartz, both of Midland; daughters, Mrs Charles (Clara) Moll and Mrs. Charles (Jean) Shuler, both of Midland; brothers, John Kartz and Edward Kartz, both of Saginaw; sisters, Ann Weir of Sanford and mary
Parks of Saginaw; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Ware-Smith-Woolever & Co. Funeral Home with the Rev. Greg Schmitt officiating. Burial will be in Midland Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call from 6-9 p.m. today, from 9a.m.-9p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. until time of service Wednesday. The family will be present from 6-9 p.m. Monday and from 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, when a Christian wake service will be held at 7 p.m.
Memorial are suggested to the Council on Aging or the Pardee Cancer Treatment Committee.
