Jacob Henderson Willis was born February 15, 1859 in Flag Pond, Tennessee. He was the oldest child of Thomas and Rachel Clouse Willis. Jacob was three years old when the Civil War began. His father left to fight and died as a prisoner of war. Times must have been very hard for the family. Jacob said that he remembered soldiers coming through and scourging through everything. Jacob grew up the man of the house and the farming was his responsibility. Jacob married Ruth Victoria Jarvis on August 8, 1880. She was the daughter of James and Alicey Brown Jarvis. The couple had nine children. Jacob died on May 16, 1912 in Del Rio, TN. Ruth died on January 18, 1923. They are buried on top of a hill on the land that they owned. It is private property and unsure how to get to it.
