Married Thomas R. WILLIS on 18 OCT 1857 Married Joe HARRIS b: ABT. 1840 on ABT. 1875 Note: From the book "A Book of Remembrance of The Clouse Family Descendants of George Clouse, I" Compiled and Edited by Prietta Clouse Franklin Rt. 2 Box 408 Cookeville, Tennessee 38501: "They lived at the old Willis homeplace in Flag Pond, Tennessee which is now Unicoi County. He fought in the Civil War, and was taken prisoner at Cumberland Gap, Tennessee on Sept. 9, 1863. he was taken to Camp Douglas in Chicago, Illinois. He arrived there on Sept. 24, 1863. He died March 24, 1865 and was buried in a Confederate Mound in Oak Woods Cemetery in Chicago, Illinois. He joined the Confederate Army in May 1862, enlisting in Company A, North Carolina 64th Regiment. He was accompanied by his brother, John, and Rachel's brothers William, Peter and Joseph along with three of Sam's brothers and two Tilsons. The Unit served in East Tennessee, went on an expedition into Kentucky, and later stationed at Cumberland Gap. There he was among 285 of the 64th Regiment who were captured. She reared her children under severe hearships. She never received any pension from Thomas' service. her brother Thomas Clouse was of great assistance and was well known to the Madison County descendants as "Uncle Tommy."
