Mrs. Marie Gibson Fowler of Rockfish Road, died Saturday, September 3, 2011 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst at the age of 88.

Mrs. Fowler was born in Cumberland County on July 22, 1923 to the late Robert Henry Gibson and Henrietta Culbreth Gibson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Joseph Fowler, her siblings, Andrew Lewis Gibson, Allen Culbreth Gibson, William David Gibson, Robert Henry Gibson, Jr., Eugene Hodgin Gibson, Kathleen Gibson Garner, and Virginia Rose Thornton. She was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Rockfish.

Survivors include two daughters, Carol F. Durham and husband Stephen of Hillsborough, and Kathy M. Fowler of Rockfish; two sisters, her twin sister, Henrietta Gibson Tanner, and Alice Gibson Allen, both of Rockfish; three grandchildren, Brandon M. Durham, Rebecca M. Cozart and husband Charles, and Katelyn M. Fowler; two sister-in-laws, Vera Fowler Powers of St. Pauls, NC and Barbara Gibson of Shelby, NC; numerous loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM, Monday, September 5, 2011 at Crumpler Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Alloway Cemetery in Red Springs, NC
