Max was born on Jan. 7, 1924, in Sarcoxie, the son of the late Odus H. Lambeth and Carrie (Woods) Lambeth.
He had attended Sarcoxie schools prior to serving his country overseas in the Philippines and Japan. Max was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army on Aug. 24, 1946,.
Max had a great love for growing flowers, especially Peonies and Gladiolus. He retired in 1993 from the Fairview Greenhouse in Carthage, Mo., and furthered this enjoyment of raising plants on his own farm.
Max had attended the First Baptist Church until his health limited him. He was also a member of the American Legions.
On Feb. 8, 1945, in Columbus, Kan., William "Max" Lambeth and Maxine Castor were united in marriage. They were blessed with over 66 years together. Of this union, two children were born. Maxine survives of the home.
Additional survivors include two sons, Steven Lambeth and wife, Linda, of Sarcoxie and Bruce Lambeth and wife, Margie, of Wentworth, Mo.; five grandchildren, Scott Lambeth and wife, Crystal, Austin Lambeth and wife, Julie, Traci Stokes and husband, Mike, Shelly LeMasters and husband, Brent, and Angie Strong and husband, Shannon; 15 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death were two brothers, Victor and James Lambeth; and two sisters, Ella Sooter and an infant sister.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Housh-Goodwin Chapel, Sarcoxie. Burial will be in Sarcoxie Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday at Housh-Goodwin Funeral Home.
