was born in Buncombe County and was a daughter of the late Nelson and Rhoda King Ledbetter. She was preceded in death by her husband Mailon King, who died in 1996, three sisters, Darlene Ledbetter, Dorothy Gillespie, and Demi Austin, and two brothers, David and Dan Ledbetter. She was a member of Beulah Baptist Church.

Surviving are two daughters, Shelby Jean Teague and Dyanne Frisbee, both of Leicester; five sisters, Dessie Gillespie and Doris Justice of Leicester, Daisy Warren of Candler, Delia Clark of Thomasville, and Doxie Giles of Ypsilanti, MI; a brother, Don Ledbetter of Thomasville; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
