John was the son of John Kitt and Teckla Klocke. John married Elvira Snyder on Feb. 18, 1958 at St. Mary's Church in Auburn, IA.

Daily Times Herald - Friday , August 19th, 2011 - John Kitt Jr, 79, of Templeton died Monday Aug 15, 2011, at Kindred Chicago Iakeshore Hospital in Chicago, IL. Mass of the Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am Monday, Aug. 22, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Templeton. Celebrant will be Father Steve Brodersen. Mass servers will be Chase Prebeck and Reese Hansen. Music will be by Jeanne Kerkhoff and the Sacred Heart Men's Choir. Lector will be John's nephew, Jerrod Kitt. Gift bearers will be John's nieces Diane Miller, Kris Babcock, Beth Chia, Annette Slate, Connie Krause and Lori Pohlman. Eucharistic ministers will be John's brother, Cleo Kitt and his wife Trellis. Casket bearers will be John's brothers Cleo Kitt, Ray Kitt, and Jim Kitt, and John's nephews Kraig Kitt, Jeff McCarville, Mike Kitt and Todd Snyder. Burial will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Dedham with military honors conducted by the Dedham American Legion. DeWitt Loustaunau Post 20. Friends may call at Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 3:30 p.m. Sunday There will be a rosary at 4 p m , followed by a Christian wake service at 6 p.m. The casket will be taken to the church at 9 am Monday when visitation will resume.

Born on June 20, 1932 at home in rural Audubon, John Joseph Kitt Jr was a son of John and Teckla (Klocke). He attended St. Joseph's School in Dedham and upon graduating helped his father as a hired hand.

On Aug. 12, 1952 John entered the US Air Force. While in the service he completed his education at Loyola University and Furman University. After his honorable discharge in August 1956, he started working for Boeing Aircraft in Wichita, Kan.

On Feb. 18, 1958, John married Elvira Snyder at St. Mary's Church in Auburn. After their marriage John and Elvira farmed for a brief time one mile east of Coon Rapids. In 1964 John went back to work for Boeing Aircraft in Chicago, IL., and later worked for McDonnell Douglas Aircraft, which is now Boeing Aircraft. John retired on Dec 21, 1996.

John enjoyed playing cards, woodworking, making coffee and socializing at the Templeton Fire Hall and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife Elvira of Templeton; two sisters Arlene (Dave) Sisan of Cummings and Norma (Frank) Krause of Lake City; three brothers Cleo (Trellis) Kitt of Spirit Lake, Ray (Diane) Kitt of Audubon, and Jim (Aggie) Kitt of Audubon; his brothers in law and sisters in-law: Bill McCarville of Carroll, LuVerne (Alice) Snyder of Schaller, Orville Snyder of Schaller, Helen Snyder of Lake City, Wilmer Red (Judy) Snyder of Auburn, Algene "Snort" (Barb) Snyder of Carroll, and Eugene Snyder of Carroll, as well as many nieces, nephews, and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Bernice McCarville, his brothe-in-law Linus Snyder, and his sister-in-law Ann McCarville.
