Mrs. Farrar was the oldest member of Winter Park Presbyterian Church at the time of her death. She enjoyed spending time at the family cottage on Masonboro sound where family and friends frequently gathered. Mrs. Farrar pursued a number of hobbies, taking up painting later in her life, through which she found she had considerable talent. She shared her works with family and friends. Although she spent most of her life taking care of her family, had she been born some years later, undoubtedly she would have made a career in art.
Surviving are her daughter, Doris Ellen Farrar Droke of Wilmington, and son Jack B. Farrar, Jr. and wife Carol Lynn of Rocky Point; two grandsons, Kenneth M. Farrar and Garry A. Farrar and Renee; one great-granddaughter, Samarra Farrar; three nieces, Marie Hall Harfoush, Lillie Bloodworth Whaley and husband Bobby, and Gerry Murdock Onoff and husband John; also two nephews, David J. Hall and wife Toni, and James L. Hall and their families.
The family extends many thanks to the staff of Autumn Care of Myrtle Grove for their excellent care of Mrs. Farrar during the past years.
Memorial services will be held at Winter Park Presbyterian Church on Tuesday, August 16,2011 at 11:00 a.m., with the reception to follow in Chadbourn Hall.
